Snipe signs have become very popular lately.
They are a great form of cheap advertising.
It sure beats PAYING to advertise using radio, television, or the newspaper.
I view them as abusive and illegal. What right do these companies have to break the laws,
littering the community, to promote their ventures?
Most companies I contact using these signs STOP using them.
The largest response is "everyone else is using them" or
that they did not know that they were illegal.
Occasionally I receive a hostile response such as "don't touch my signs"
and personal threats, however, no response, or stonewalling is more common
for non-compliant companies.

This spammer regularly distributes snipe signs in the roadways of Palm Beach County.
Contacting the General Sales Manager only lead to threats to have me arrested for removing
HIS ILLEGAL SIGNS...
This MAJOR retailer feels they have the
RIGHT
to litter our roadways with their
ILLEGAL SIGNS.

Imagine " a community website littering its own community "
This spammer recently distributed snipe signs across Palm Beach County advertising their website.
I attempted to contact this organizing via phone, fax, and email with no response.
In my last email I informed them that they had 24 hours to remove their signs or I would.
I photographed then removed 30 of their signs on about 5 miles of SR 704 Okeechobee Blvd.

Your County Government has chosen to not allocate the resources necessary to
enforce the Federal, State, and local laws regarding this problem.
We need help with ideas to motivate the general public to help STOP this public nuisance.
Maybe a Public event/Contest like a scavenger hunt with prizes for most signs collected.
Perhaps a phone or letter campaign directed to the SPAMMERS
discussing their advertising practices.

CHAPTER A GENERAL
Section 1 General
A. Purpose and Intent
The purpose of this Section is to establish standards for the placement and use of signs and other advertising consistent with State of Florida and Federal law. These standards are designed to protect the health and safety of PBC and to assist in the promotion of tourism, business and industry. More specifically, this Section is intended to;
1. Identification
Promote and aid in the identification, location, and advertisement of goods and services, and the use of signs for free speech;
2. Aesthetics
Preserve the beauty and the unique character of PBC, protect PBC from visual blight, and provide a pleasing environmental setting and community appearance which is deemed vital to the continued economic development of PBC;
3. Land Values
Protect property values by assuring compatibility with surrounding land uses...
